The Golf of Your Dreams

Here's a hard fact of golf life: despite the technological improvements in golf equipment and the billions of dollars spent on that gear, the average golfer is still as bad as he or she was 15 years ago. Bob Rotella, sports psychologist and author of Golf Is Not a Game of Perfect and Golf Is a Game of Confidence, knows what the problem is: commitment. Once a player commits himself to doing better, and does what it takes to achieve that goal, he or she will improve. Rotella's plan for making and following through on that commitment is an excellent one. He says very clearly, and right at the beginning of the book, that his plan isn't for someone who plays golf once a month for pleasure. This is for hard-core dimpleheads, male or female, and it's a serious, extremely workable program.
Customer Review: Bob Rotella's Golf of Your Dreams
I purchased this book years ago and misplacet it. Since it gave me excellent results I decided to purchase another one wanting to get the same results. I took several years off because of health issues so I decided to give it another shot. If you purchase this book and follow his game plan I guarantee you will get exellent results also. It takes time and effort but it is all worth it in the end when you win the money and match against your oppenents. Good luck
Customer Review: A Great Little Book
Dr. Bob Rotella has written a great little book on the mental game of golf. The short chapters are easily digestable a full of wisdom and common sense. I will probably reread this book several times as I try to improve my game. A MUST FOR EVERY GOLFER.

Golf in the Kingdom (An Esalen Book)

Golf In The Kingdom is the author's haunting exploration of the mystery and beauty that is at the heart of golf. A young man on his way to India, stops in the Kingdom of Fife to play the legendary and ancient golf club of Burningbush. He is paired with a mysterious and playful teacher named Shivas Irons, who leads him through a day of phenomenal golf and a night of adventures. Golf In The Kingdom is a well written story and like the game itself, the book is a journey revealing both puzzles and pleasures. Michael Murphy is a native Californian who founded the Esalen Institute with Richard Price in 1962. He is a graduate of Stanford University and did further work in the area of philosophy. He is also the author of The Kingdom Of Shivas Irons.
Customer Review: On the Fence
True golfers will find passages here that resonate...even those of us who, to put it mildly, dispute the existence, let alone the presence, of the supernatural on, of all things, a golf course. But if you have persevered thru the hot/bugs/expense golf stage, you may just have experienced a brief period most of us call, shrugging it off, "The Zone." Why else would anyone put up with all the, hot/bugs, etc., etc.? Should we be shrugging it (The Zone) off? Michael Murphy would say, well, hell no. Take your zone experience and multiply it by eight or nine...just within the believability range, mind you. What if Murphy really did spend that day at Burningbush [fictional name] in the Kingdom of Fife? Really. And what if he really did meet someone similar to Shivas Irons? It makes sense he would have played a round...and many, if not most of us, have met golf gurus who seemed at least a bit mysterious. Indeed, if you have never considered golf at all mysterious, disregard this book! If you have, just a little, wondered...make the investment. If it appeals, buy "The Kingdom of Shivas Irons" next. Fore! JMD

Green Keepers Line-M-Up Alignment Aid

The Green Keepers Line-M-Up Golf Ball Alignment system features the following:
  • Helps align your ball so you can concentrate on stroke and speed
  • Fits any regulation size ball
  • Conforms to USGA rules
  • Sharpie Marker included!
    Customer Review: Improve Your Putting
The Line-M-Up golf tool is a simple template for placing a line on a golf ball. The line aids the golfer during putting. A number of companies put out a similar tool, but I find this one more sturdy than the one I last had, which broke. The curved plastic template snaps over the golf ball and there are three parallel slits in it. Using the slits as a guide, just use the included Sharpie marker to make accurate lines on the ball. This is pretty much impossible to do freehand due to the curvature of the ball. It comes in different colors, but I chose the clear plastic so I could line up the template with the label on the side of the ball. That's recommended for a roll that's more true. I see many golfers using a line on their golf balls for putting. This is recommended for better alignment by many golf instructors. I'm glad I found the Line-M-Up tool for this. The product is made by Greenkeepers of Philadelphia, PA.

Golf Dads: Fathers, Sons, and the Greatest Game

The interplay between father and son has long been one of golf's most essential and enigmatic relationships. Here are ten remarkable stories of golfers, their fathers, and the game that brings them together. Featured are well-know subjects including Michelle Wie, Ben Hogan, Lee Trevino, David Feherty and others-such as six-year-old phenomenon A.J. Beechler-not yet known to the world. "This is a book about fathers," the author writes, "using golf as a wedge to pry open a few insights."
    Customer Review: Golf Dads
Really good portrayal of the essence of golfing w/ your dad. All the experiences of the game w/ the emotional attachment of enjoying each others company!
Customer Review: A Terrific Book - Great Gift for Father's Day
Golf Dads: Fathers, Sons, and the Greatest Game is a terrific book that I found easy to read and interesting in its exploration of the complexity of relationships of fathers and sons and how golf affects communication between generations. I am not a golf enthusiast but I loved Curt Sampson's style of writing and illuminating content. The stories of fathers and sons / daughters is a book well worth reading. I would highly recommend this book.

    Customer Review: Great !!
Birdie Balls are great and helps me to hit my golf ball strsight!!
Customer Review: Nothing, and I mean nothing, has improved my game more
Wouldn't it be great to live in a golf course community with free anytime access to the driving range? Bridieball, makes this possible to anyone with an average sized backyard. Comparing Birdieballs to other practice golfballs, whether of the plastic wiffleball variety or those made of foam with a solid core is like comparing a wood shaft to one of today's nanotech engineered graphite shafts. Birdieballs fly exactly like a golfball, only for a shorter distance. Not only that but they offer perfect golfball like feel at impact. Close your eyes and you will think you are hitting a performance golfball. You can feel the difference between off-center and sweet spot hits. In addition, the ball offers enough resistance to mark impact tape, so you can farther optimize your practice time. It is hard to appreciate the feedback provided by the sound of a Birdieball in flight until you try it. The manufacture describes it as a turbine in reverse, unfortunately, I have never heard a turbine in reverse. I would describe the sounds as barrummmmm, a very satisfying low pitch sound that registers in your sub-conscience. I realized this while playing a round after working with the Birdieballs for a while, every time I hit a good shot (and that happened much more after using the Birdieballs) I noticed that in the back of my mind I was hearing that low pitched barrummmm. Practice makes perfect as the old saying goes. Birdieballs make it possible to hit a couple before work. Hit a couple after work and before dinner, and hit a couple in the evening before the sun goes down. I have used many practice aids, clubs and read books in the quest for the perfect swing. Nothing and I mean nothing has improved my game more, while being fun and easy to use. I am not in anyway connected to the folks at Birdieball and would be happy to talk to anyone considering buying this product (...) to verify this. This is one golf product that has really blown my socks off. Greg Steele - Philadelphia, PA

    Customer Review: Office Fun
Works perfect for my office. Fairly realistic rough. It does shed quite a bit at first, but eventually the shedding drops off. Recommend combining with an automatic putting cup or small practice green.
Customer Review: Great mat but it sheds
I set up a mini driving range in my garage... A net, a regular mat with tee. I wanted to practice hitting out of the rough. Its a great little unit...but it sheds...little green plastic grass all around the mat..eventually, there will be no more grass..BUT....for the money..its dynamite...

Golf Rules Illustrated Effective Through 2011

With everything there is to know about the game, this indispensable guide is like having a golf pro by your side at all times. Where better than the United States Golf Association to learn the 34 rules of golf? Every four years, the USGA, with the R&A in St. Andrews, revise the rules in an effort to adapt them to new situations that may have come to light in international competitions. Only here you will find the updated complete regulations as amended in 2008 (good until 2011), with more than 100 illustrations designed to make understanding them even easier.
Customer Review: USGA lingo better interpretated
Easy to read and somewhat easy to find a specific ruling. Poorly indexed. They have a long way to go in making rules easier to understand but have made a good start.
    Customer Review: Illustrated golf rules
This makes the standard rule book much easier to understand. A great gift for your golfing friends that may not know some (or sometimes any) of the rules.

Success on the Green: PGA TOUR Pros' Secrets for Putting Your Best

Here's the next best thing to being on the course with a PGA pro! Leading professionals including Lee Janzen, Jim Furyk, Dave Stockton, and Rocco Mediate demonstrate every detail of the putting game, shown in 500 illuminating photographs. The pages burst with drills and real-world tips, from understanding how pace and speed affect ball movement to the correct form to use for difficult lies, from thoughts on equipment to ideas for getting the most out of practice time.
Customer Review: Putting like the professionals
Admiring Florida resident, Jim Furyk for his tenacity and success of putting, I figured this book was worth reading. The book's title is a bit misleading "Success on the Green: PGA Tour Secrets for Putting Your Best". It should be titled "Tour Secrets for Putting THEIR Best". The book profiles 4 of the current PGA professionals, Jim Furyk, Rocco Mediate, Lee Janzen and Dave Stockton and their 'respective' putting technique. It's value is in putting specific to their style: Mediate's belly putter, Furyk's Bullseye blade putter, and Stockton/Janzen's Perimeter weighted blade putters. They cover the specifics of each golfer's stroke: Address, Takeaway, Backstroke, Preimpact, Impact and Followthrough. Various drills are interspersed between chapters. A section correcting various problems in putting is outlined: alignment, grip, ball position, weighting, wrists, angle of attack, followthrough, etc. Another section includes choosing the proper putter, finding the line, accuracy and grooving a stroke. Pre-putt routines, the mystical plumb bobbing technique and determining putting speed are also covered. The book is well illustrated and covers various angles of the swing. Bullet style tips are provided and the text is written clearly. Overall, when all of the wonderful photographs and words are boiled down to essentials, we find a book with limited applications for the average golfer to improve to his or her potential. It does cover more specifics on the belly putter than I have ever seen in any other instructional book - which is for some the last stand against the Yips. This book is more in the style of the major golf magazines written today. A lot of flash with little true substance (i.e. understanding how to really read a break). I noticed a major inconsistency. Look at the putter used by Jim Furyk on the cover and the putter that he says is going to stay in the back, for a while (Odyssey 2 Ball on the cover versus the Bullseye putter). I say it's worth reading but this will not be a 'golf classic'. It is an average book hyped up with great photos and 4 superstars of the game. I give it 3 stars - Average for interest. VERDICT: If you are interested in a breakdown of 4 different (non-inclusive methods) of the putting stroke, (especially with the less taught belly putter), then this book is worth a look.
